Domestic violence and sexual assault are the most prevalent issues affecting women in Uganda. Regardless of the economic and educational background of the women, they are tortured and affected in similar ways.
Lower levels of education account for a big percentage of the cause of violence against women. Culture and religion too contribute to the rise of gender issues and the abuse of women in local communities.
Women have to rise above stereotypes in order to be recognized in a society or else lose their status. Women and Able hands Uganda, we have identified that Educating women about their rights is one of the ways to help them rise above violence. We hold educative sessions in which we empower women to open up about issues arising in their families and workplaces. In so doing, women find solace, comfort, confidence, and freedom from their lives of bondage.
Human dignity and equality are the two core values of humans. These two values are what define human rights and yet very many women live their lives without dignity, facing discrimination, disrespected, and suffer all sorts of injustices.
Women should not be caught in a place where they are treated unfairly, lack freedom, discriminated against and tortured to the point of death.
We stand to bridge the knowledge gap in women. Women ought to know their human rights and how to live a dignified life.
